Why You Deserve Better
As members will be aware, Unite is launching your 2021
pay campaign to ensure that the essential and
invaluable work you do and have always done.
Over the last 10 years local government workers are some of
the most hard hit due to the austerity measures that have been
forced upon you.
Last week the Prime Minister announced a pay rise of around 3.1%
for public sector workers in England & Wales – but not for local
government workers, their offer is far, far less!
During the last round of pay negotiations in Scotland, the Scottish
Government decided that local government workers deserved 3%
less than teachers. Even though the agreement reached was that
if any other public body received a higher rate then pay talks could
be reopen – the Scottish Government refused to do so, offering no
more money to COSLA, thereby breaching the pay deal!
Unite members cannot tolerate this type of behaviour
when they are still in the frontline, still some of the
lowest paid workers across Scotland and still provide
an essential service despite the continuous cut in
JUST SOME OF THE REASONS

“It’s been said so many times already, but it’s true & I’m going to repeat it; clapping doesn’t clean classrooms, it won’t drive the school buses, & it won’t pay the bills.”
